The Doomben Cup stocks of weight-for-age star Manighar received a boost when he drew barrier one for Saturday’s Group One feature.
The import has been in stellar form this campaign and has notched elite victories at three of his past four starts.
However classy mare Shez Sinsational, a three-time Group One winner in New Zealand, didn’t fare as well with barrier 11.
Manighar will be one of two runners for trainer Peter Moody along with Lights Of Heaven who drew well in gate six.
Scenic Shot, shooting for a third successive Doomben Cup victory, fared well in four while German import Mawingo also has a good gate in five.
A field of 13 will contest the 2000m event, the second Group One race of the Brisbane winter carnival.
